School Violence: Is there bullying? Do you often see fights? Discipline referrals?
We do have referrals when students are a distraction to class. I have seen fight but not as much as the first couple years in this school. I feel like most of the violence is maybe because kids are involved in gangs if not drama within girls. I have seen some improvement since then. Students who encourage, or surround fights, can get in trouble if a security or staff recognizes students. I'v heard its more common in other schools I think our advantage is the building is smaller and its hard to get away with anything but in this case its a good thing. Unfortunately bulling is common, usually its judgments towards each other. I dislike it but feel like as you get older there is less of it.
Bulling is common, but to cease the bulling our administrators and other school staffs keep a look out for it. The most common way of bulling is cyber-bulling. Most times anyone in a situation of cyber-bulling are caught and suspended.
EPIC is really focused on keeping our school a close knit community. If there are any instances of bullying, we have a counselor that students can go talk to. Fights don't really happen much inside of school due to the fact that we have counselors available. Teachers usually can see a fight before it happens, so there is a lot of early prevention. We run on a demerit system. In a class room, you get a warning for doing a certain behavior, then if you do it again, you get a demerit. On your third strike, you get referred out of class which results in 4 demerits. For every 4 demerits, you receive an hour of detention.
Bullying is everywhere at any school. At epic Bullying is never tolerated. If someone is bullied then the bully is disciplined with a suspension(Out of school). Sadly everyone knows that bullying is everywhere. In a bullying situation I once saw that someone was being bullied and I spoke up to the administrator because in my past years of grammar school i was bullied everyday. I cried so many days and nights because I didn’t know what to do ,but now that I can relate to situations like that it’s easier for me to be able to help others deal with bullying issues. People can’t be scared to speak up because if nothing is being said about a situation like bullying then nothing will be resolved.
