GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

I hope students from both schools enjoyed hearing about life in another setting. I can't wait to read all the scholarship submissions.

Last minute advice:
Show more than you tell
Concrete, specific detail
Voice! Let your style and personality come through the words and details you choose.
Keep it focused. What is your central point? Do you stay focused on it with all your interesting details?

Your Ideas and Questions

All the prompts so far have been based on the essay topic. In this section, ask what you are curious about and hopefully someone will respond.

Interests

What are your interests? (This can be in school, the field you want to study, the job you want to have, hobbies you pursue, etc.)

Purpose

The goal of this blog is to help you explore the topic for the Akey Family Scholarship as well as to learn about other teens' experiences. You may conclude that location matters very much or very little to who you are or who you may become. Regardless, we hope this experience is interesting and enriching to you.

Opportunities

What opportunities do you have in your community and your school? (You can look at this question in many different ways; there are positive and negative opportunities around all of us.) Are there opportunities that you wish you had?

Introductions

Introduce yourself and tell us a little about you: family, pets, interests, hobbies, goals/plans after high school, and other fun facts.

Education

Describe your educational experience. Possible points: Elementary or middle school, daily schedule, getting to and from school, courses offered, school rules/expectations, etc.
