In our small town we have about 14 bars and just as many churches. How does religion and play a part in your life? And how does alcohol effect your life?

  1. Personally, I am not a very religious person. I don't have strong beliefs in any religion but I practice Christian holidays (Easter, Christmas, etc). I also partake in Jewish holidays (Hanukkah) since I have Jewish family members. I don't go to church, but I will go if someone invites me. I feel as if you don't have to claim a faith or go to church to just be an all around good person.

With alcohol, I'm not an emotional drinker. If I do drink any, I do it for celebrations or just for get togethers. I don't make it a big part of my life.

  2. Well, Chicago is a big city, so I'm sure there are probably more bars here. The same for churches. Anyways, alcohol is not a big deal in my life. In my life, alcohol is used for celebrations.

  3. I'm not a very religious person. However, since my parents do go to church regularly, I do celebrate Catholic holidays. Despite my parents going to chuch, I myself don't go. Religion, overall, doesn't play a major role in my life.
As for alcohol, it doesn't effect my life since I don't participate in those activities.

  4. In Chicago, there are just about as many bars as there churches, we're a big city and I couldn't even begin to imagine the exact amount; just know there is a lot.

When it comes to religion, I pray, and believe that I will answer to a higher power someday. I practice Christianity, and Lent as Catholics do. I do not go to church due to family circumstances, but I often watch Joel Osteen's sermons on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. I also have a playlist of Contemporary Christian music that I listen to often, and I normally read the bible on my YouVersion Bible App. I want to go to a college with a church or chapel near by because I would like to practice regularly since I will be free to make my own decisions when I move out.

As for alcohol, it plays no part in my life personally, at least not anymore. My father and aunt were alcoholics. And since I grew up in that type of environment, I had always believed that alcohol was something that I should stay away from.
