It is often suggested that where we live helps to shape how we see the world. How do you think your experience, your ideas about the world, your education, opportunities, and interests would be different if you had grown up and attended high school in an urban/inner city areas OR in a rural area? Please consider drawing upon any real or imagined experiences you have had personally about urban/rural life, or those from pieces you have read as part of your studies at CHS/Epic.

Hi, I'm Mrs. Rohrer, the instructor from CHS. I grew up in Clintonville and have been teaching here for 16 years. As a kid, I lived on a small, family dairy farm where I milked cows and helped with all the chores associated with raising cattle.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been married for 21 years and have one 14-year-old son.
I teach English, so no surprise that I love to read. I try to run regularly, but it's to try to stay healthy more than for any love of running.
Hi Ms.Julie, I'm Sapphire. What is it like being a full adult in Clintonville?. For example, are taxes high, living conditions, and maybe even neighborhood safety.
DeleteThanks !
Sapphire,
DeleteOf course everyone always thinks their taxes are too high, but overall the cost of living in Clintonville is low. The average home price is around $70,000. Some sell for much more, but there aren't a lot of new job opportunities here, so we don't have many people wanting to move into the area.
About 60% or more of the students in our schools receive free or reduced lunch, so we do have our struggles.
Since I grew up here, there are a lot of things I love about the town, but I can see that it could be tough for someone new to move in because so many people have known each other and their families forever.
As for safety, I've never felt afraid walking around town. I don't hesitate to go for runs by myself and I wouldn't be afraid to walk by myself after dark. Break-ins and things happen, but not too often. A lot of people leave their doors unlocked. (I don't. My husband was a police officer so he says that is just inviting trouble.)
That's interesting, thank your for this informaiton
DeleteHi,
DeleteMs.Julie can you tell what Clintonville smells like and what type of noises do you hear on day to day basis.
I am Kaitlynn Kupsky and I am 18 years old. I have lived in Clintonville my whole life, but my family also owns a farm outside of town. I am a waitress at our local supper club. In school, I am invovled in band, German Club, link crew, and National Honors Society. After school, I plan on attending a school 1 hour away for elementary education.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a job, how do you manage work, school, and having a social life?
DeleteHi Kaitlynn, I'm Sapphire. How is life owning a farm. I one day hope to have a farm. How did that even come to mind for you and your family?
DeleteHi Everyone! Dierda- It is hard. This year, I have many study halls, so I am able to get homework done before work. Otherwise, I had one to two hours of homewor when I got home. During tennis season, I go from school to practice to work then home for homework. I do not get much of a social life, as I work most weekends, but my work is pretty flexible if I want time off to hang out with friends.
DeleteSapphire- In the late 1800's, my dad's ancetors immigrated from Germany and settled where the farm is today. The farm has gotten passed down and now my dad owns it. There are no animals, he just crops the land on top of his everyday job. Currently, one of my sisters lives in the farmhouse there.
My name is Megan Walotka. I am 17 years old and I have lived in Clintonville since I was 7 years old. I work at my Mom's bar and also at the local strawberry farm in the summer. I am involved in Band, Jazz Band, National Honor Society. After high school, I am planning to go to college in River Falls, WI to major in veterinary science.
ReplyDeleteHey Megan! The strawberry farm sounds really cool! I visited one in Mexico, it was awesome and extremely hot in the green house. Can you touch more on the number of hours that you work at both the bar and farm and how you still manage to participate in music and honors programs at your school? Also, what do you do at the bar, and do your classmates work as well? Have a great spring break!
DeleteHi Megan, My name is Precious. I notice that you have a job at your mom bar. What's it like to work with your mom? and what it's like to having so much going on with all your involvements and working because I also work, which make me overwhelm, what motivate you to continues?
DeleteHi there, I'm Mikala Gwinn. I am 17 years old and have lived in Clintonville my whole life. I work at the Clintonville Rec Center as a lifeguard. I have also worked at the small DQ we have here in town. I have one younger brother who is 15. We have a st.bernard named Wally, a cat named Ash, a ball python named Edward and then I also have a robo hamster named Frodo. After high school I plan to attend St.Norbert's in De Pere majoring in Biology/Pre-Med with hopes to become a radiologist.
ReplyDeleteHey Mikala! I love the variety of pets that you have! I love animals too. I'm sure you can't imagine what it'll be like being away from them when you go to college--I miss my dogs and birds all the time when I'm gone. My friend is studying to become a radiologist, he says it's a lot of science. Does your school offer any interesting science programs or has something influenced you to want to become a radiologist? Have a great spring break!
DeleteWhat made you want to become a radiologist? How do your pets interact together? What is your favorite thing to get from DQ?
DeleteMarcos, I am going to miss my pets terribly when I go to college! I am in Upward Bound which is a pre-college program for low income families in the area, they take us on college tours and fun stuff like that. I have always been interested in the medical field though.
DeleteDierdra, I have always been interested in the medical field because I had lots of issues when I was younger so there were frequent doctor visits. The human body interests me a lot so radiology would be great fit.
DeleteMy cat and dog are very close. They love to cuddle. My cat loves to watch the hamster and snake move around in their cages, separate cages of course. When we hold the snake however, Ash, the cat, doesn't know what to do with him.
My favorite thing from DQ is the caramel cheesecake blizzard. Or things that we make up when we get bored lol.
Hi what inspired you to go into that major?
DeleteSapphire, I frequently had to go to the doctors office for a variety of different issues. I wanted to understand what happened "behind the scenes" and be able to help people.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThat's awesome! can you tell what Clintonville smells like? and what type of weather there is?
DeleteSapphire, uhm Clintonville doesn't really have a smell. In the summer it smells like fresh cut grass a lot. In the country it usually smells like cow poop lol. The weather here is unpredictable. We had snow just the other day. But then in the same week it was 50 degrees.

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm Claire Crocker and I'm 17 years old. I have a younger brother who is a sophomore in high school. I've lived in Clintonville since I was 9 when my dad became a pastor at a local church. I am a bank teller at a credit union, and I play varsity soccer. I participate in the schools musicals and plays, and I also do choir and band. I am a part of German Club, National Honors Society, Math League, and new this year: Feminist Club. I love snowboarding during the winter and I travel a lot in the summer. I plan to go to college at either UW Madison, Michigan Tech, or UW Platteville to major in industrial engineering.
ReplyDeleteHey Crocker, I see that you like soccer too. What position do you play?
DeleteHi Claire, my name is Briana. What do you do in Feminist Club?
DeleteHey Claire! You're involved in so much! I love it! How do you manage taking on so many programs? Also, are there any plays or theaters in Clintonville? There are many in Chicago that host amazing musicals and Broadway shows. Have a great spring break!
DeleteHi Claire. My name is Precious I also play soccer as well. I play on defense and I plan on playing soccer in college. My question is do you plan on playing soccer or any sports during your college years?
DeleteRene and Precious, I play defense as well. I was thinking about playing soccer in college, but I might just play on an intramural team so that it's not as large of a commitment as an actual team. That way I hopefully have more time to focus on my studies.
DeleteMarcos,
We don't have an theaters in Clintonville which is actually really sad. The closest theater is 45 minutes away in Appleton Wisconsin.
Briana,
In feminist club we do things like make posters to promote feminism, and we have club meetings every Thursday. We discuss different topics like body positivity, rape culture, and economic and social problems facing women. We plan to go to our local middle school to have a feminism day with the 7th and 8th graders.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Kylie Engelhardt and I am 18 years old. I have lived in Clintonville all of my life. I am employed at Cindy B's as a bartender. I live with my mom and step dad with my 2 sisters Lanie (11) and Sophie (6). I also have my Dad and step mom that lives in Clintonville as well with Maxx (4) Kendra (12) and Brayden (13). I am in show choir, dance, and enjoy the class AP Psychology. I dance at a private studio 25 minutes away from Clintonville and it is for sure my passion. I am attending UW LaCrosse (3 hours away) to major in both Psychology and Criminal Justice to eventually become a Criminal Psychologist.
ReplyDeleteHello Kylie, my name is Regine. I wanted to ask how is it like to be bartender? I also want to major in Psychology, so what motivated you to major in that particular subject.
DeleteHi Kylie! I'm Maria and I also have a pretty large family. I have three sisters and one brother but I have a step brother from my dads side of the family in California. I'm 17 by the way. How does it feel having a big family?
DeleteHey Kylie, my name is Briana. Dance is also my passion. What type of dance do you do? Hip Hop? Jazz? Modern? Ballet?
DeleteGreeting Kylie, I'm Sapphire. What inspired you major in psychologist?
DeleteHello Everyone! Regine: I love being a bartender. Everyone is really nice and I get along with everyone! I didn't become interested in Psychology until I took intro to psych my Junior year, and I just fell in love with it. It's become a passion of mine and how the brain works just amazes me. Maria: I love having a big family. You always have someone to talk to and it's nice being able to be the oldest and being able to boss all the siblings around haha. It's hard sometimes to treat everyone the same since I live with my Mom full time and don't see my other siblings on my Dad's side but I still enjoy having a big family. Briana: I am in Hip Hop, Contemporary and Lyrical. Sapphire: I became obsessed with the brain and how it works and what makes serial killers tick and why they do what they do so I decided to major in the one thing that deals with the brain the most and thats psychology.

ReplyDeleteI'm Jessie Barker, a 17 year old girl that has lived in Clintonville for almost seven years. I lived in Racine, WI before I moved here in 7th grade. I live in town a few blocks from the high school with my parents and our cat. I have one older brother who lives in Milwaukee.
ReplyDeleteI love volleyball, but am also involved in lots of things like Link Crew, NHS, Math League, and I compete in the Academic Bowl among the regional schools.
I hope to play volleyball at UW-Platteville after high school, but I will also be pursuing a mathematics major (tentatively planning on going into secondary education).
Hey Jessie, My name is Briana. What's Link Crew? What do you do?
DeleteHey Jessie, I'm Dierdra. How is it living in a small town, what do you like and don't like about it? Is it like what we see in the movies?
DeleteHi Jessie! I'm Maria and I also play volleyball. What position do you play? Do you play any other sports? I play center and right side hitter but I also enjoy playing softball. Can't wait to hear back from you!
DeleteHi Briana, Link Crew is a student organization composed of Juniors and Seniors that takes a small group of incoming Freshmen under their wings basically. We set up and run freshmen orientation and do activities with them throughout the year to get them better acquainted with high school, so they don't feel so intimidated by upperclassmen and the whole school itself.
DeleteHi Dierdra, living in a small town is definitely different. I like the small-town feel, but even with around 4500 people, it's not like everyone truly knows everyone. Almost all of the stores you go to have someone you know or recognize working there. You see people you know driving all the time, but I guess it isn't really like the movies. There aren't just the same thirty people town that do everything together and stuff like that. I don't like the politics and the "name" drama that goes on. Certain families seem to get treated differently based on their last name because they are friends with people with high places, and that to me is ridiculous. Some students have not been fully punished because of their family's role in the community, and I suppose life just is not fair. I think that everyone should be treated fairly and work for what is given for them, and that seems to be a hard concept to grasp sometimes here. I'm sure that happens anywhere, but here is where I have experienced and witnessed it the most.
DeleteHi Maria! I was an outside hitter through all of my high school career. I am only 5'7" though, so if I want to play in college, I will most like have to become a DS. I played middle my first year of club volleyball and that was terrifying! Haha, but I loved playing all the way around as an outside hitter. Volleyball is my favorite for sure, but I am also in track. Last night I ran the 4x200m relay and the 4x400m relay, but I usually just run the 100m dash, and the 4x100m relay. I played basketball, but stopped in high school so that I could focus on club volleyball all winter. I started baseball when I was really little, and moved to softball and played until I moved to Clintonville where softball wasn't the same for me. I was a cheerleader in Racine as well, but it wasn't very competitive here, so I stopped that too. I think those are all the sports I have done! (:
DeleteHi I struggle with math the mos, do you struggle if so how do you overcome those struggle? does your school offer tutoring?
DeleteWow Jessie that's a lot of sports! I also used to play a lot of sports, but only play Volleyball and Softball now. I used to play soccer in elementary school, but I broke my foot so I don't feel comfortable playing again. I started playing Volleyball in the 7th grade and Softball my sophomore year. My junior year, though, I joined a tumbling club and it was awesome! I'm a little taller than you, haha, I'm 5'8 and a half. I like running a lot though, I did Track at my school for literally a day. I hope you make the Volleyball team at UW-Platteville (:
DeleteMy name is Alyson Young. I am 18 years old and I have lived here in Clintonville my whole life. I work at our local Walgreens. I am involved in Chamber Choir, Show Choir, Forensics, Drama, and Link Crew. After high school, I am planning on going to UW La Crosse, but I'm not 100% sure what for, but I'm planning on minoring in music for sure.
ReplyDeleteHey Alyson, I'm Sapphire. I see we have something in common. How did you get involved in acting in such a little town?
DeleteSapphire, in middle school, we had a small acting club type thing that you went to for two days and you learned a bunch of different skits and stuff. Once I got into high school I didn't think I would be involved in any acting, but a few of my friends were in the musicals and plays that our school offers our freshman year. Sophomore year I decided to join the musical because I really enjoy singing and I would be able to hang out with my friends. I scored a decent role that year and I've been doing the musical ever since. I'm not as into the plays though, because it's the music part that I really enjoy, but I sure enjoy watching the plays.
DeleteHello! My name is Emily Graper and I am 18 years old. I actually don't live in Clintonville, I live in a small town that's about 20 mins away, so I have drive to school. I am a lifeguard at our local rec center and I have an internship at our local paper. I have a dog, his name is Buddy and he is a five year old goldendoodle. Some of my hobbies include binging Netflix series, but I usually do that over the summer. I'm not too sure on which college that I'll attend in the Fall, but it's between UW-Madison and UM-Twin Cities. Regardless of the college, I plan to major in political science.
ReplyDeleteHey Emily, what is your favorite thing to watch on Netflix?
DeleteHey Emily! My names Maria and I always wanted to be a lifeguard at a beach near my school called Rainbow Beach (not an actual beach) but I don't know where to apply to become a lifeguard. Where did you get certified?
DeleteHey Maria, I am also a lifeguard at the same pool as Emily. Our community offers a course through the Red Cross. It is an expensive class but the certification is good for 2 years and then you can work at any pool facility.
DeleteThat sounds like a good deal. Are you certified to do CPR?
DeleteMaria, yes I am. In order to be a lifeguard you have to be certified in CPR. It is part of the lifeguard class.
DeleteHi, my name is Emma Kumm. I am 17 years old and have lived in Clintonville all my life. I work at the Clintonville Public Library. I have three older siblings and two younger siblings. I have 4 dogs and two cats, as well as three birds and a bunny. I am in choir and student council. I am attending the University of Missouri to major in psychology.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, my name is Regine. I was wondering, what is the best place to go to in Clintonville?
DeleteHi Emma K, I'm Sapphire, I see you're attending an out of state school. How are you paying for that?
DeleteHi Emma!, my name is Precious I notice that you have four dogs, two cats, three birds, and a bunny. What will you do when you leave off for college would you have a family member look after them or would you ever consider staying closer to home and take care of them yourself?
DeleteHi Regine, we do not really have a lot of places to go and hangout. When my friends and I hangout, we usually just hangout at each other houses, drive, around or go out to eat.
DeleteHi Sapphire, I am paying for it obviously through the help of financial aid, but I have been applying for many scholarships. I will also, if I have to, use the loan option.
DeleteHi Precious, I have nevrer wanted to go to college in state or stay near home. My family will take care of all our pets when I go away.
DeleteHi Emma, do you enjoy working at the Library in Clintonville?
DeleteHello, I'm Victoria Pfeiler. I'm 17 and I have lived in Clintonville my whole life with my mom, dad, sister and various pets. I am in our school band, and one of our choirs, I do the musical and the play that the school does. I play girls varsity soccer, and when I'm not doing any of that I work at a fast food restaurant to try to save money for college, which is coming up pretty fast. I plan on going to UW Stevens Point for Interior Architecture/Interior Design and minoring in Business.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, I'm Sapphire. Let's have a girl to girl convo, what type of things do you outside of school. For example, what mall is around, are there hair salons, and what type of food restaurants are around?
DeleteHello Victoria. I'm Maria and I am also working at a fast food restaurant to save money for college, but honestly I feel like I don't make enough to save a lot. How is your process with saving? Any methods? How do you manage school, work and your social life? I often struggle with all three but I am more focused on my education.
DeleteHi Sapphire, the closest mall is between 45 minutes and an hour away so I don't usually hang out there. We have a Culver's, an A&W, a McDonalds and then some local coffee shops and restaurants.
DeleteHello Maria, I too feel like I never have enough money saved, ever. I try to work as much as possible, I go from soccer practice to work some nights. I don't really have a process of saving other than putting a lot of my checks right into saving so I'm not as tempted to spend all of my money right away. I try my best to manage everything, I don't really have a social life right now because I am so focused on school, soccer and work.
DeleteVictoria, I think I should get a savings account then. I used to work at the Shedd Aquarium in downtown Chicago and played volleyball meanwhile and it was so hard, I had no social life either . hehe
Delete-Maria
Hi are you more of a home cooked person and do you like to eat out?
DeleteSapphire, I love home cooked meals. I almost never eat out because both of my parents cook and so do I. I actually love to cook for my family and friends. So I would say I am a home cooked person.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Morgan Skokan and I am 18 years old. I have lived in Clintonville my whole life. I work as a receptionist and body piercer at a local hair salon and I also bartend at a small bar 5 minutes from town. I am involved in Spanish Club and Feminist Club. I really like snowboarding in the winter and also enjoy playing varsity soccer in the spring.
ReplyDeleteHi Morgan, I'm Sapphire. How do you bartend at only 18? and how did you find this bar?
DeleteHi Morgan, my names Maria and I've lived in Chicago my whole life and I feel like I would be comfortable living in both a rural and urban city. How about you?
DeleteSapphire, it is legal for 18-year-olds to be bartenders despite the fact that they cannot legally partake in the consumption of alcohol. This doesn't make any sense to me nor does it make sense to many others, but that's the American government for you.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm Meg. I'm a part of a bunch of clubs and sports and other various extracurriculars but that's really boring to talk about. I have yet to decide what to do with my life and I cry a lot about how much debt I will be going into because of college. I am not a fan of Donald Trump.
ReplyDeleteAlso I am a hypochondriac.
I second Megan on not being a fan of Donald Trump, and also being a hypochondriac. Along with an anxious freak.
DeleteHi Megan, my name is Regine. I was wondering, how has being hypochondriac effected your lifestyle?
DeleteIt has changed my life in many different ways. My nose bleeds twice a day so I'm 99.9% sure I have leukemia. I also think I am developing the early stages of Parkinson's disease. I spend a lot of time researching diseases and going to the doctor.

DeleteMy name Darin Carrigg, I am 17 years old. I have lived in Clintonville my entire life. I have played football all 4 years. After graduating I plan on going to a 4 year college and studying computer science.
ReplyDeleteHi Darin, I'm Sapphire. What inspired you to study computer science?
DeleteI am Noah Hartleben also know as Bean and I am 18 years old. I have lived in Clintonville since I was 5 with my mom, my dog, and my cat. I am in National Honor Society, the Vice President of FFA, and a captain of the Basketball team. Every summer I work for G and G Gardens, where I mow lawns all day. After high school I plan on going to Iowa State University. GO CYCLONES!
ReplyDeleteHi Noah, I'm Sapphire. How did you find the job of mowing lawns? I'm pretty sure you super tired when you arrive home..what motivates you ?
DeleteHello Noah, My name is Regine. What do you like about Iowa State? what encouraged you to go to a school out of state?
DeleteHello Sapphire I found the job of mowing lawns through my uncle. He is the one that owns the business and he had to have emergency surgery and had no one to work for him. The motivation that kept me going was to keep my uncle's business going and the money. He paid me very well to work for him.
DeleteHi Regine the reason that I picked Iowa State is because it is one of the top vet schools in the nation. I also wanted to go out of state to try something new and get a new setting in my life.
DeleteHi Noah, so do you plan on being a veterinarian?
DeleteMy name is Jade Czarnecki I am 18 years old. I have lived in Clintonville my whole life. I have played volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I work in the sales department at our local fire truck manufacturing company. I hope to attend either UW Milwaukee or UW Madison.

DeleteHey Jade, I'm Sapphire. I see you play sports, the same as myself. How cool ! lol I love volleyball. How did you manage school and sports?
DeleteIm Caleb, im 17. I grew up in a catholic farm family and it kind of sucked. I prefer more intelligent civilization much more. My brother and I grew up playing outside with friends, we have never really been into video games or anything like that. The town is very close-nit, and this created a community that was very nice and easy growing up. As for college, I am going to Iowa state to hopefully obtain a masters in environmental engineering or geosciences, and hope to NOT live in wisconsin someday.
ReplyDeleteHi Caleb, My name is Regine. What was the worst part about growing up on a catholic farm? What made you want to go to a school out of state? Do you feel when you leave for college that you will be homesick?

Hey Caleb! My names Maria and I am yet to meet a guy that doesn't play video games. What do you spend your free time doing than? I enjoy going out with friends or reading when I do have spare time.
DeleteHow has living clinton ville affected your views on the environment ?
DeleteI'm Tiffany! I'm 18 and I love sleeping and looking at pictures of puppies. I'm involved in a lot of activities and such, and I work at a local pharmacy and waitress on the weekends. All of those things don't allow me to take too many naps, so that's unfortunate. I'm going to UW-Madison next year for something related to the health field -- don't ask me what though because I'm the most indecisive person ever. Okay hope you have a nice day :))
ReplyDeleteHey Tiffany, I'm Sapphire. I so agree with you I love sleeping, I'm also involved in lots of activities. I also see that you're going to UW-Madison next year, where do you plan on working during that time?
DeleteHey Sapphire! I don't plan on working at least during my first semester of college...I feel as though it will be a huge adjustment just going to college and getting used to the new lifestyle. However, I plan on working at my two jobs over the summer as much as possible and still enjoy hanging out with friends before we all part ways in the fall. There will be a lot of job opportunities in Madison, so I will have a lot to consider. Right now I'm working on getting my CNA license, so that would be something I would work as so I can kind of "get my foot in the door" before entering the medical field.
DeleteHello Everyone! My name is Bejeray Morrison, the Alumni College Counselor here at Epic Academy. I have ‘hot sauce in my bag swag’. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri in the cul de sac community of Olivette. I spent my childhood, playing outside without adult supervision from sun up until the street lights came on at sunset. I spent my summer break in rural Ishkooda, Alabama climbing trees, catching fireflies and outrunning feral animals. I went to Ladue, a predominantly white school district from K-12. In high school, I was obsessed with Ghana, boys from the East Coast, GYE NYAME and Pochacco, a Sanrio character. As a senior, I felt like I knew everything and everybody in St. Louis so I chose to leave home for college. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Black World Studies. I have a son, Lennox who is 9, he attends Skinner West Elementary school and is an avid Pokemon catcher.
ReplyDeleteHey! I’m Marcos. I live on the Southeast Side of Chicago and there’s too much going on in my life to explain in a paragraph. I have two 50 pound dogs and seven birds. I love to dance, eat, learn, and essentially just have fun with anything I do. I currently work at McDonald’s, but I’ve also worked at the United Center (sports venue--home of Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks), and have a paid internship on the Teen Health Council for Mikva Challenge (google search "Chicago Wears Condoms"--we created this!). I just finished facilitating a four week dance class in which I taught Salsa, Bachata, and Cumbia three days a week in my church basement. Don’t invite me out and ask me what I want to do or where I want to go because I’ll either tell you that it doesn’t matter or that it’s up to you. Lol. I’m planning on attending Bradley University this fall, but don’t know what I want to major in. Be well! (:

Hi, my name Is Briana Childress. I am a 17 year old african american female senior. I’ve lived in Chicago, IL my whole life. Since my freshman year of high school I’ve been involved in many activities. For instance, I did visual arts and jewelry design my freshman year. Modeling my sophomore year. Majorette dancing my junior year. As of now I just do various activities in my church. My two favorite activities are going to the movies with friends and family and dancing. Hopefully soon I will be working at Garrett's Popcorn at one of our famous landmarks, Navy Pier. In fall 2016, I will be attending National Louis University in our downtown Chicago area. I’ll be majoring in management, gaining the skills I need to become a Entrepreneur. I chose NLU because the atmosphere there isn’t like ordinary colleges. NLU makes their students feel like they have a home outside of their home while they still install post-secondary education.
ReplyDeleteHi Briana,
DeleteIs modeling something that is offered through your school or how did you do modeling your sophomore year? I have seen that a few others have mentioned it and am curious.
Hey Briana-
DeleteHow far are you from Navy Pier? What type of transportation gets you there?
Greeting my name is Precious Rucker. I’m a senior at Epic Academy. I’m 18 years old, and I will be attending Northeastern Illinois University. I want to major in Criminal Justice and have a career as a Criminal Defense Lawyer. A little information about me is. I am the the baby out of my older siblings, I have three dogs ( two mix pitbulls and one full bred jack russell ), I am the captain, I am a student who work hard in school and outside of school. I captain of the dance team, and I am also a student who live to play sports. During my hair school year I have been on the soccer team all four years, I also have join Volleyball my senior year.
ReplyDeleteHi Precious! Have your sibling attended Epic? Also, why do you want to go into the criminal justice field (like inspiration, experiences)?
DeleteHi Kaitlynn! One of my brothers attended Epic, He graduated last year and it feel really weird now that I don't attend school with him because I'm so use of being around my brother a lot when we was at school, but I am getting use to not having my brother around with me in school. I want to go into Criminal Justice because of different cases I analysis in a paper I wrote for my IRW class ( Research and Writing Seminar ) I also want to become a criminal defense lawyer because I look at all the evidence in a case and figure out what happen, when it happen or why it happen. I can remember me taking all the evidence and watch many videos of Aaron Hernandez case. While I was looking at all the evidence nothing added up for him to be guilty for second degree murder. Yes I agree that he should do time for having a illegal weapon, but second degree murder was uncalled for. When I talk about cases it's like the lawyer side of me comes out and knowing how many innocent people being send to jail that is actually telling the truth is uncalled for, and I believe that I can help many people out.
DeleteI think that is cool how you found interest. Your IRW class also sounds cool. We only have normal english classes, either you take on normal course or one honors course each year.
DeleteMy name is Dierdra Gentle and I am 17 years old. I have have an older brother name Desmond, who is 21 years old. I’m from the South side of Chicago, Illinois. I have never lived in a place for more than 5 years.

I love to listen to music, my favorite is genre is pop. My favorite band is Maroon 5, and my favorite singers are Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. My favorite song is “Glamorous” by Fergie.
My favorite shows are “Doctor Who”, “Friends”, “The Carrie Diaries”, and “How I Met Your Mother.”
I plan attend either Elmhurst College or Northeastern Illinois University. I will major in Psychology and minor in chemistry and business. I am a part of a program called “TRIO Upward Bound” and it helps students get to the next grade level.
I would really like to know what life is like outside of a city because I have never experienced it before.
I plan to become a cosmetologist when I get older, and own my own chain of salons. I love cosmetology because I like bringing out others inner beauty, and like the colors of the different products.
What is it like to move around so much? I have lived in the same community my entire life.
DeleteI am also in TRIO Upward Bound, many of us here at CHS are.
It's hard because I don't get a chance to out down root. I can really only say I grew up in Chicago, not a certain neighborhood, but if I do talk about a place I live it's Inglewood. It's the first place I lived. I love it, but people say that it is a dangerous place. I have never heard a gunshot in my life and everyone was very nice to each other.
DeleteLET'S GO SENIORS LET’S GOOOO. Hello It's me I was wondering if you were reading. Since you are, My name is Ruth Hounkponou. Yes my last name is long but hey that's fine.

Hi Ruth! I think that it is very cool to have lived in another country before. How is where you lived before different from where you live now? Were there any large barriers when you moved?
DeleteHi Kaitlyn,
DeleteMy country is very small and everyone knows the same language.I attended a private school that was very strict and rigorous. The obstacles I faced was that I had to live my friends and learn a new language.
THanks Ruth! In a way, I think it would be nice to all know the same language, but I like that we all speak the different languages. It makes our country more diverse. You must have a lot of courage from learning a new language.
DeleteHi there, my names Maria Mijares I’m 17 years old and was born Chicago. I've done volleyball for six years, softball for 3 and have participated in my school’s teams, captain in both sports. I also run, swim and exercise on my own time because I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have worked with After School Matters doing dance, tumbling and a year of culinary arts (food makes me happy). I have recently done an internship at the Shedd Aquarium mentoring other teens like myself with STEM related projects and art. I currently, though, work at a McDonald's as a cook and cashier. I work three times a week and make about 35 hours in two weeks all while maintaining my grades at school, staying fit and participating in softball. Sometimes all this can be stressful but I know that everything is worth it at the end of the day. I'm thinking about attending Western Illinois University to major in Elementary Education (Science or history) and minor in Economics. After I graduate college I want to become an officer in the National Guard for eight years.
